Before Rolland Courbis passed away, his children Stéphane and Olivia announced on RMC that two tributes were planned for the former coach of Olympique de Marseille. The first tribute was held in Paris on Wednesday afternoon at the Madeleine Church at 3pm, and the second tribute will be held in Marseille, his hometown, on Saturday. Many personalities from the world of football, sports, and media gathered at the Madeleine Church to pay their respects to Rolland Courbis. Among them were Zinedine Zidane, Bernard Laporte, Michel Denisot, Gérard Darmon, Emmanuel Petit, François-Henri Pinault, Pascal Praud, Jean-Luc Reichman, Alain Afflelou, and Luis Fernandez.
Rolland Courbis, who worked as a coach for Olympique de Marseille for two and a half years, was described as a significant figure in French football history by the club. Didier Deschamps, the coach of the French national team, also paid tribute to Courbis, highlighting his warmth, strong character, and passion for the sport.
Rolland Courbis, who began his career as a footballer for Olympique de Marseille and later became a coach, also worked with teams in Bordeaux, Toulouse, as well as overseas in Algeria and the Gulf countries. In recent years, he had been working as a consultant for radio and television, including RMC and L’Equipe du Soir on the L’Equipe channel.
